The Helpline was established as GATEPOST in 2010, in response to the increasing number of calls received from working farmers by farming and land-based charity RSABI, and was relaunched in 2015 as the RSABI Helpline.
The Helpline recognises that making a living from the land has always had its challenges. But in recent years life in farming, crofting and related industries has become more and more stressful, with high levels of regulation, financial insecurity, isolation and long hours.
Because work and home life are often intermingled, it can be hard to get away from the pressures.
Sadly farming continues to see one of the highest rates of suicide of any industry in the UK.
The Helpline is here to help relieve the pressure. We can help at any stage and we would always encourage you to call before the stress builds up too badly. No problem is too small.
However, we're also here for you if you are feeling very low or even having thoughts of suicide. Our listeners are trained to help in this situation. We won't be shocked and we won't judge you - we're just here to help.
